IMO E.

A - In addition to how, when - wierd; of determining - wrong
B - In the determination of; passive voice is unnecessary here
C - Even though it has used "to determine" correctly, THEY doesn't have a clear antecedent.
D - Same as above.
E - This should be the correct answer in my opinion.

very hard

I think the idiom is "clue of something" not "clue of doing or in noun"

"to do" is prefered than "for doing"

so, IMO C

I haven't hit the chapter of Voice in MGMAT SC yet, but by concision alone, E looks to be the best option.

A: "in addition to how" awkward/wordy
B: "in the determination" (maybe; 2nd choice)
C: "and when they did" fragmented/awkward
D: "and how they were" fragmented/awkward
E: concise, grammatically correct

E

Can you explain why you choose B?

I choose E. However, you choose B and I am sure that you thought much about the same. Please share your thoughts with us.

Same thing goes with 'duongthang'. Could you guys please share your thoughts?

i narrowed down to D and E because of idiom "provide...for"
D "by mammals" i think is passive. even in B same problem is there
another problem in D is that "they" does not have clear reference
