SC from GMAT Prep

As envisioned by researchers, commercial farming of lobsters will enable fisheries to sell the shellfish year-round, taking advantage of off-season demand, standardize its sizes and colors, and to predict sales volume in advance.
(A) taking advantage of off-season demand, standardize
(B) taking advantage of off-season demand, to standardize
(C) taking advantage of off-season demand, standardizing
(D) take advantage of off-season demand, standardizing
(E) take advantage of off-season demand, to standardize

parallelism required between to sell, to standardize and to predict.

So A, C , D wrong

In B, 'taking adv of ....' modifies the clause before 'to sell shell fish year around' . Hence correct

In E, 'take advantage of ...' seems is a dangling clause.

So B is the answer.

Whats the OA?

Is there a typo in the example sentence or one of the answer choices? None of the choices read grammatically correct to me. What's the OA?

Well it seems like it should read "to sell...to take...to standardize...to predict" -- that's parallel. But that's not in any of the other answer choices.

B could be correct, but only if "taking advantage of off-season demand" is not in the list of things that commercial farming will enable, and is instead a dependent phrase describing selling shellfish year round.

I guess the answer is B, since none of the answer choices make all of the phrases parallel.

Option A.
Does not follows parallelism. Thus, this option is wrong. 'to standardized' and not 'standardized'

Option B.
This is the correct answer as it follows proper parallelism. 'to sell' ' taking advantage of' therefore the use of 'to' with 'standardize' is of the essence.

Option C.
'standardizing' there's no point using this present participle.
Thus, this option is wrong.

Option D.
This option suffers the same fate as option C above. Therefore it is incorrect.

Option E.'taking advantage' not 'take advantage' it is an act in process. This makes this option incorrect.
