Although all the proceedings of the Communist

party conference held in Moscow were not carried

live
, Soviet audiences have seen a great deal of

coverage.

(A) all the proceedings of the Communist party

conference held in Moscow were not carried

live

(B) all the Communist party conference's Moscow

proceedings were not carried live

(C) all the Communist party conference Moscow

proceedings have not been carried alive

(D) not all the Communist party conference

Moscow proceedings have been carried alive

(E) not all the proceedings of the Communist party

conference held in Moscow were carried live

Why is A incorrect

Although X, Y.

X and Y should be in contrast.

In this case, it is meant that some of the proceedings has been carried live, but not all.

A) it changes the meaning that 'all the proceedings' were 'not carried live'
meaning none was carried live. and anyways it is an awkward construction
B)changes subject
C) changes subject
D) changes subject
E) conveys the meaning correctly.

ans E

whats the OA?

I agree with Ranji.. the underlined portion after although should bring out contrast...

PS Ranji: sorry ranji just a small correction in your usage, in the bolded portion plural "have" should be used instead of singular "has". Just wanted to let you know.....

true..

'some of the proceedings' - since 'proceedings' is plural, 'have' should be used.

cool..thanks for correction!

Option A.
This option looks so correct but it is wrong with a microscopic eye someone could detect the hidden error in this question.
The underlined part of the question should carry a contrast since the sentence begins with an 'Although'
Therefore this option is not correct.

Option B
awkward sentence construction. This is visibly wrong.

Option C.
wrong sentence construction.

Option D.
'Moscow proceedings' well the proceedings was only held there not of there.
This option is not correct.

Option E.
This is the correct option as the underlined part of the sentence suggest a contrast in line with the use of 'Although' at the beginning of the sentence.
