I am not very sure on this, but I would choose A.

Reasons:
B. that, resembling looks awkward to me.
C. Lets partition this senctence. "Four and a half inch animal found in Phillipines..." and "Four and a half inch animal resembling humming..."
Do you think these are parallel construction? I dont. I may be wrong.

D: IT is redundant.
E: Awkward and wordy

For me the choice was between C and D and I chose D. because I was not sure about 'resembling', i liked the "found in the phil and' but had a problem with resembling.. any explanations why resembling is right?

** Guys, this is one of those where the GMAT is clearly making an awkward sentence, and none of the answer choices is exactly how you would correct the sentence. It's at times like this it's so important to remember to pick the best answer available!!

That being said... C is the OA because it is the best answer. It doesn't have a good ring to it, but there is nothing wrong with it, unlike the other choices (for the exact reasons stated in previous posts).
