A certain theater has 100 balcony seats. For every $2 increase in the price of a balcony seat above $10, 5 fewer seats will be sold. If all the balcony seats are sold when the price of each seat is $10, which of the following could be the price of a balcony seat if the revenue from the sale of balcony seats is $1,360 ?
(A) $12
(B) $14
(C) $16

Ans 16

Try to backsolve and eliminate some answers.

Divide 1360 by all options.

1360/12 > 100 Not possible as total no of seats are 100

You can rule out other options except 16 and 17 as division results in fraction which again is not possible.

1360/16 = 85. This can be possible as this satisfies the question that for every 2 dollar increase 5 fewer seats are sold.

1360/17 = 80 . This does not satisfies the condtion of the question.
