Subjects to study for a business consultant?

by ebakeev » Mon Nov 30, 2009 11:22 am
I would like to do MBA that later I could work for a business consultant. I am civil engineer and would prefer that my knowledge of engineering was useful in my future job. What subjects should I select in order to have better knowledge of business consulting?
All subjects are important, but I still need to make a preference. What electives would be the most suitable for me?
Thanks,

the MBA will essentially qualify you to be a business consultant, and former engineers are highly favored in the consulting industry thanks to their problem solving ability. As for classes you can take as an undergrad, depending on what kind of consulting you want to do, you could likely benefit from courses on strategy, financial modeling and anything using the case method of teaching.
