Answer is (I) 3
below is the explaination . pls let me know if i am wrong
just order all the numbers in asending order to find the median and calculate the median with all the givenchoices (i.e the middle value, in this case the sum of the 2 numbers in the middle/2)
in this case you see that only by using 3 the median is a fraction.
Now add all the numbers to and you will see none of them are divisible by 6 so even without calculating further you see that the answer must be (I)
you can confirm this by actually calculating mean is 6.5 (39/6) and median is 6.5 (6+7 / 2)

you are right - both 12 and 3 satisfy the conditions given. Are you sure the question does not give you a choice of 1 & 3?
the method I haveused for calculating the median and mean is correct you can cross check on excel.
I made a silly mistake earlier while calculatin the mean with no. of defects as 12 but thats abt it.
