Hi people,

Just started this thread, so we can have a consolidated list(probably links) for all the latest & "approved" B-School Rankings.

Feel free to pitch in any additional information you deem fit.
While citing the ranking please mention sources as well.

I went through the forum and found some previous links of the same nature.

Have added whatever info i have.

you can add ''wall street'' as well.
and
''the economist'' too

and yes of course you can link my blog's article about ''what it takes to be the best b-school''

I'd discussed about it in the sub-forum too. Confused

Now that my GMAT is over and it is too cold to be spending time outside, I have a lot of time to waste on things that may or not may be useful. I've compiled a list of 19 schools and their rankings. I used the ranking table from : http://vhub.blogspot.com/2007/09/mba.html and updated the table with the latest rankings, updated the myRank column and also a column to display the Standard Deviation Wink Those with better experience on Statistical modeling could probably add more meaning to these numbers. For the rest of us, its a great place to start.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks to the original poster for the links to the recent MBA rankings.

On a side note, here is something to consider… through my work as an MBA Admissions Consultant, I often get asked ‘do school rankings really matter?’

I strongly believe that while a school’s ranking is important (lets face it, who doesn’t want to be affiliated with a top program…besides my Detroit Lions), it is by no means a measure of a student’s ability to obtain the education or post-MBA career they desire.

First of all, there is considerable debate about the legitimacy of rating systems, specifically the various methodologies they use to rank the programs. (I would not be surprised if some of these rankings evaluate school colors… if so, count my vote for Maize and Blue!)

More importantly, there are many factors to consider about the MBA program itself – including alumni network, specialty rankings and geographic location. For example, while Wharton has a ‘higher’ overall ranking, the school does not have the same recruiting strength for Brand Management / Marketing positions as does a ‘lower’ overall ranked school such as Michigan.

Similarly, while UC Berkeley and UCLA are not ranked in the top 3-5 range; in the West Coast they have greater alumni connections (and in some cases reputations) than ‘higher’ ranked East Coast schools.

Ultimately, your success in the MBA program and beyond is really dependent on you! Despite the rankings of your school, you need to work hard to network with classmates, reach out to alumni and utilize the resources of the career center to find your dream opportunity.

So look beyond a school’s overall ranking. Research the programs and make your ‘own’ rankings based on criteria that is relevant to you (I think ‘number of social functions’ was on my list!) Otherwise, you might overlook a program that could be well suited for your post-MBA goals.

p.s. As always, this is my opinion. I am curious to hear what others have to say.

p.s.s. My apologies for the shameless reference to C+C Music Factory in the subject line. Not cool...

Regards,

Nikhil

Here is another good place to find information on rankings. They also produce a ranking list for different specializations.

Hi,

I did an in-depth comparison of the ranking methodology published by The Economist, Financial Times and US News and found out that the most comprehensive, researched and well-architected rankings are those provided by The Economist.

Gives me the impression that they have taken the job very seriously to help people assess the true worth of one's hard-earned money that will go into funding the MBA.

Also, if you are not particularly the person to be swayed by the overall ranking, then you could also go into the specifics of each of the parameters used, the logic behind it and the specific ranking for each one of those.

I whole heartedly endorse this list and I will be using it as a part of my decision to choose an appropriate program/b-school.

US News is only second and FT has given more( or should I say most) improtance to Salary alone as suggested in their methodology.Salary is important to me, too. However, there are a lot of other factors also that play an important role in making a well-informed decision.

Regards,
Viv
