It's your verbal that's hurting you. Can you raise it? (BTW, graduate schools do not care about your high school performance.)

Here is my assessment of your profile's competitiveness at these programs:

1) Rotman School of Management, Toronto Competitive
2) ESADE Business School, Spain Competitive
3) Lancaster University Management School, Uk Competitive
4) Manchester Business School, UK Competitive
5) Warwick Business School, UK Competitive
6) UC Berkeley, Haas, USA Stretch
7) Virginia, Darden, USA Stretch
Cool IMD Switzerland Stretch
9) London Business School Stretch

Best,
Linda

You're very welcome.

You stand a decent chance at the schools I listed as "competitive" in my previous post. Before suggesting schools, could you tell me what you want to do with your MBA?

Your current GMAT verbal score is going to cause admissions readers to wonder about your communications skills. One effective way to deal with that concern is to raise your verbal score. It is probably the best way. Your TOEFL and AWA can confirm the negative impression made by the verbal, but they don't carry enough weight to really combat it.

The other step you can and should take is to write and speak English well throughout the application process. Finally, you can ask your recommenders to comment positively on your communications skills.

hi linda,

thnx again for ur valuable feedback

As you said that my AWA and toefl score will confirm the negative impression, i just want to be assured that how much Toefl score and AWA score should be sufficient to give +ve impression.

Sorry. I wasn't clear. I didn't mean specifically your score. I meant that in general the TOEFL and AWA can only confirm the impression made by the GMAT. They rarely have the credibility to seriously change it.

Target GMAT Score: 700+
GMAT Score: 710

Hi Linda,
I too got a 660 ( QA- 47, VA- 35), 82% overall, Nov 2009.
What advice can you give me.
Below is my brief profile and my expectations from MBA

Work Experience: 2.5 yrs , currently working as Domain Consultant for After-Sales Service Management Domain ( a niche area) with a top Indian IT firm
Highlights: IT Consulting exp-Conceptualizing and designing business domain offerings
Filed for a patent for a "Reference Model" that I created, grant awaited.

Education:
Masters in International Business from Delhi University
Graduation in Computer Science from Delhi University
APICS BSCM certification ( Supply Chain and Logistics)

Expectations from MBA

I wish to take up marketing courses and work for the Consumer Goods Industry.

Keeping the above in mind, request you to suggest me some good B-Schools. Will INSEAD consider me competitive enough? Will NUS give me good returns?

Or, does it make sense to take the gmat again? Does the time of year affect scores?

Regards,

Hi Ridhi,

INSEAD with 660 GMAT score is a stretch. If you are only looking to apply to INSEAD you will need to sit for GMAT again and score above 700+ at least. Have you looked into any other B-schools other than INSEAD or is that the only school you want to apply to?

Warm regards,
-S
