Please evalute my profile ; GMAT 700 Post Fri Dec 16, 2011 11:59 am
Hi

I took my GMAT a couple of weeks before and scored only a 700?

I plan to apply NUS, NTU, CEIBS, SDA, IESE, Purdue.

My profile is mentioned below:
1. Indian Male, IT background, Age - 24 years
2. Undergrad - Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Science), Pune University, India - 65% aggregate. Graduated in 2009.
3. GMAT - 700 (Q50, V34, AWA - 4.5)
4. Work Experience: 24 months (as of December 2011)

Current position - Working as developer in Tech Mahindra on British Telecom projects.
Performing several roles including multiple tasks.
5. Extracurricular:
I was General Secretory of computer department in college.
I was Treasurer of CESA (student organisation)in college.
I was technical section head of college annual magazine.
6. Awards:
Won several awards and recognitions at workplace.
Was best outgoing student of department.

Considering My profile as Indian IT male Sad and low work-ex do I stand any chance?
Also can you please suggest me some b-schools in Europe and Asia with 1 year program.

Hi,

Thanks for your post. You are indeed off to a good start with solid professional experience to date as well as a good GMAT score. However, I do agree that you are a bit on the younger side in regard to full time professional experience to date and your GMAT score could potentially be improved.

My advice for you would be as follows:

1. Apply in round 1 next year when you have close to 3 years of experience. Round 1 is the best round to apply as it tend to be smaller and also gives schools the impression that perhaps they are your first choice which really does matter in terms of yield management.
2. Consider retaking your GMAT. Your current score of 700 is indeed solid, but it is lower than the average score of similar applicants in the pool
3. Consider adding some extracurricular activities. All the activities currently listed appear to have taken place during undergrad. Adding some activities now is a great way to demonstrate leadership skills especially since it might be challenging to gain leadership experience in your current role at work.
