Please, can you tell my chances of admittance?

Hi, I am an applicant from Uzbekistan. I want to apply for B-school for 2018 fall intake, so can you evaluate my profile?

Education: Tashkent IT University, GPA 3.7(90%)

Work Experience: Working part time since June 2016 at private IT company in Uzbekistan, and started and managed renovation process of their main product. Besides, acting as a project manager for two start-up mobile app.

My main interest is Finance, so this months started working as a junior trader an only Prop Trading firm in Uzbekistan.

Tests: I am preparing for GMAT, but haven't taken an official one, highest mock test result is 630, but I am sure I can increase it to >690 till December.

My choices are Wharton, Stern, Olin, Foster, Ross and Kelley, so what are my chances of getting in?

Hi Aripov,
The good news here is that Uzbekistan is underrepresented in top MBA programs, so the diversity potential will be a terrific 'add' for you. Your GPA is also excellent.

Unclear for me is whether you do have any full-time work experience, or if you're juggling a part-time job with entrepreneurial ventures on these mobile apps you're developing -- or you have begun a new job at this point? To show maximum credibility in your resume, my advice would be to work full-time and do the entrepreneurial stuff part-time in order to build a more recognizable paper trail for the adcom.

GMAT: for Wharton and Stern, you'd most likely need to be above 700 to even be on their radar. However, for schools like Foster or Olin, a 690 GMAT would put you right in their median, which is where you want to be, and ahead of the pack for Kelley.

If you only graduated in 2016, you might want to give yourself one more year of full-time work experience before you apply, and work on your GMAT as well. Top MBA programs generally like to see at least three years of work at matriculation. So that gives you time to really crank up your competitiveness!

A great service we have at Stacy Blackman Consulting is a plan-ahead package (https://www.stacyblackman.com/plan-ahead/), where one of our super-experienced consultants can work with you to plan out your steps over one or two in advance of your application. Given your background, this might be a really good option for you to consider.

Best of luck,
Margaret Strother
