please advice Post Mon Jan 09, 2012 9:38 am
Hi
I am a doctor, graduated from Delhi University, India and currently working in Singapore for past 3 years. Not much of extracurricular activities to show in my resume, though have decent community involvements.
Expected GMAT ~720-740. GPA 3.5
I plan to do healthcare MBA or MPH/MBA combined programs
I have looked through few universities suitable for me

Columbia/Michigan/Minnesota/Kellogg/Wharton/Cornell/Bare ston

Of course these are the notch programs available but I am not sure if I have any chance. Please suggest.

You have a solid chance for admission to a top-tier MBA program provided that you can do the following:

1. Hit your target GMAT score
2. Clearly articulate your goals and rationale for pursuing an MBA or MPH/MBA
3. Highlight your community involvement
4. Craft a great set of essays.

Good luck.

I have worked before with M.D. applicants applying to joint degree programs and it can really help you stand out in the applicant pool to have a healthcare background. I would absolutely say that you should clearly define what it is you hope to do post MBA, and that this will be an important part of your application. With your academic background and work experience (along with your projected GMAT scores) I do think that you can be a competitive applicant.
