Ohio State now, or other school next year? Post Sat May 12, 2012 5:21 am
Just a little bit of a dilemma. I wasn't planning on attending B school this fall, however, Ohio State (Fisher) approached me for an interview. Long story short, I was accepted to start this fall. I am not sure what to do because I feel like I have a shot at possibly other school that are ranked higher. I am looking into possibly applying at the following schools in round 1 this upcoming fall: Indiana, Notre Dame, Texas, BYU, and maybe Kellogg.

Here is my background:
680 GMAT
2 years work in business development/marketing for an industrial bank
Non-profit work in Romania and US...fundraising, partnerships, online advertising....
2 year LDS mission (speak Spanish fluently)
Undergrad BYU (marketing)

I am leaning towards marketing or consulting for my emphasis/career path. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!

I think you have a shot at a higher ranked school as well.

My advice would be to hold off on Ohio, and focus on other schools this year (at the least, you should still be able to get into schools like Ohio).

Also, if you're reasonably confident that you can boost your GMAT, you may want to retake it. A 680 is fine for schools outside the top 16, but if you're looking at schools like Kellogg, you may want to shoot for a 700+. It's not impossible to get into Kellogg with a lower score, but it's more like a 50-yard field goal.
