Hello,

I see people on their profiles where they list themselves as "candidate" MBA or candidate MBA student of XXX school of business. What does this mean exactly?

i'm assuming that means that they're in the school. question is how is that different from just saying MBA student? becasue i don't see people saying candidate grad student or candidate undergrad student at X.

Just want to know the nuances. thanks!

Good question with silly answer: it's just one of a billion MBA-isms out there. For some reason, MBA students refer to themselves as candidates just as non-professional basketball players might refer to themselves as 'NBA hopefuls.' Just a fancy way to say you are trying to get there and have a good shot, especially since hardly any students fail out of business school.
