Needs a profile evaluation and tips for applications Post Mon Dec 26, 2011 10:26 am
Hi,

I would like to ask if I can get a profile evaluation and at the same time tips on how to structure my application for an MBA. I've taken the GMAT twice and here are my scores:

620 (Q:36 V:38)
690 (Q:44 V:40)

I studied in one of the best universities in the Philippines and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in accountancy. As a student I was highly involved in curricular organizations and was awarded a leadership award upon graduation. I was also awarded as one of the ten most outstanding graduates of my time. I also won a prestigious national business case study competition here in the Philippines. I also won honors as a debater representing our university in local and national competitions. I am also a CPA with a decent passing grade.

As for my work experience, I have been working as cost accountant for Procter and Gamble here in the Philippines for 3 years and a half. Unfortunately, I am not yet promoted but I don't want to stay any further cause I really want an MBA at the stage of my career. I also work as a part time financial adviser for an insurance company. Unfortunately, I don't have much extra curricular activities since I had to relocate from my native soil to work and I wasn't able to get in touch base with other organizations. I did try Toastmasters but wasn't able to continue it though.

The reason behind this is I want to shift to a more finance related career preferrably in banking and asset management. I never had the opportunity to go for that career prior to being employed in P&G but I want to go for it and I think an MBA will help me "rebrand" myself to help me become more competitive to nab my dream career.

Hope you can help me with a good advice on my profile and at the same time would really give me advice on how to draft a strong resume for my applications.

By the way, I'm planning to apply to Asian Institute of Management and National University of Singapore for an MBA.I would prefer regional MBAs due to the fact I want to work in Asia and financial constraints. I would really appreciate any advice you can give me. Thanks a lot! Smile
