Hi,
I have done my MMS(MBA)Marketing from mumbai university and i Plan to do another MBA in Brand Mgmt from US.
Today i visited a very renowned consultant from mumbai. She totally demotivated me, telling that

- My previous MBA is hindrance as Bschools in US dont prefer students who have already done MBA
- also said my % i.e. 65-70% throughout my College & masters is not good
- and she said in US Marketing jobs are for White Skinned not Brown and suggested me to do MBA in finance else i will have to come back to India.

while told my friend, who has done engineering and had got less marks than me on gmat as well as in college, has less job experience, and wants to specialise in marketing, that he will get handsome package.

Kindly throw some light on the above mentioned points. i am confused & really worried :(

Hi PiaT,
Doing a second MBA is not out of the question - it depends on your reasons for pursuing a second MBA. Good reasons for pursuing second MBA are career path change, unprepared for first MBA, updation needed on knowledge and skills, changes in working environment which means you need more exposure, shortcoming of first MBA. You can always work on reasons based on your life journey.
I personally know at least 10 Indian MBAs who are working in Marketing - again, a grossly wrong statement. In general, marketing requires characters who are conversant with English; however a very strategic role also requires other skills which you as a non native English speaker may have better access to - analytical skills, logic, structured thinking.
Your scores could be a hindrance but it depends on your life goals and where you would like to be. (Most important questions to answer for MBA admissions).
Please contact me if you need more questions or clarifications.
