Mock CATs 600 - Canadian B-schools

by nivinpk » Thu Oct 09, 2014 6:11 am
Hi all,

I'm consistently hovering around the 600 mark for all my mock CATs. It's too late to reschedule my test. I'm looking at applying to the following schools.

Sauder
Schulich
Desautels
Alberta
Beedie

Here's my profile. Do you think I stand a chance?

32 yrs, Indian, Work experience - 6 yrs (IT), Pilot license holder.

Thanks.

Hi nivinpk,

Since you don't have an Official GMAT Score yet, I don't think that there's a practical way to evaluate your profile yet.

Once you have an Official Score, you should post in the Admissions Sub-Forum (on this site). The experts there should be able to offer some perspective (although you'll probably need to provide more information than you provided in this post).

Nivin,
When exactly is your GMAT scheduled?

The round 2 deadlines for some of these schools are in early January - that means you have about 2.5 months to take the GMAT and work on your applications. However strong your profile is, I would suggest that you aim for at least 650 on the GMAT to stand a good chance at these schools. And if you are getting 600 consistently in your mocks, you may not be able to get this score in the first attempt (if you do, good for you!)

So if you reschedule or end up retaking the test, do share details about your prep and we could possibly suggest ways by which you can improve.

If you are trying to gauge the strength of your profile, B-schools pretty much look for 5 things:
1. Academic Potential
2. Work Experience
3. leadership & Diversity
4. Goal Clarity
5. Communication

We have discussed each of these in detail in this blog series, if you are interested.
