Beat The GMAT

Took MGMAT #1 today, and felt like the math problems were harder than GMAT Prep. This didn't surprise me, because people on here had said those tests tend to be more difficult, but then verbal felt easier.

Sure enough, my math and verbal scores flipped: Q43 and V45.

Anyone else experience harder math/easier verbal questions? I'm not worried about the math scores going down (as this test was a series of mind-numbingly difficult problems, the likes of which I did not see in either OG or GMAT Prep), but am hopeful verbal tends to be as difficult as GMAT-test problems Smile

I've only taken two tests, but have seen countless problems posted in the quant forum and I agree with you that their quant is harder than the actual one. That's a good thing though, since it means that if you can train using the hard stuff, the easy stuff will be a breeze.

Can't say anything particular for their verbal, though. My verbal scores in MGMAT were sort of in line with GMATprep results, maybe a bit lower.

Hi cbenk121,

Thanks for those words. It gives me more confidence. I face lot of difficulties in Critical reasoning and sometimes in R C and S C.

The following is the breakdown of marks taken in the last test( MGMAT):

SC
Total: 15 questions
Right: 9
Wrong: 6
% Right: 60 %

C R
Total: 14 questions
Right: 6
Wrong: 8
% Right: 43 %

R C
Total: 12 questions
Right: 6
Wrong: 6
% Right: 50 %

I would request guidance as how to improve in verbal topic. I am thoroughly studying Manhattan S C and doing problems from OG. However, I need to drastically improve in verbal score.

OUCH!! CR is killing you. Get PowerScore's CR Bible, stat! That book helped me boost my CR hit rate from 75% on my diagnostic to 100% on my final practice exam.

You are right about the Quant section , I have just taken MGMAT 2nd test, and Quant killed me , I was screaming WooW all the time, cause it was the first time that I had to guess blind 3-4 questions , the problems were really time consuming , and I have scored 47Q...

I would not say that the verbal in MGMAT is easier than in Gmat prep , I had almost the same score V30 against my V31 in Gmat prep1.
