Has anyone else received a generic message from giag asking to be contacted via a different email account?
He/she seems persistent.

Yes, i have. I presumed he/ she was one of those marketing spammers since i have never seen the user on the forum. Mods please take note.

Even I have got the message from giag! to contact him/her. He/She doesnt have any posts in the forum.

Always borrow money from a pessimist, he doesn't expect to be paid back.

Hey Eric,
I also received a similar message about the guy trying to give me some vital information.
Is it possible that this an automated message sent via a machine instead of some person??
I by mistake even clicked on the link.
Hope,it is not some virus infected link.
Also,how can someone get access to the account??
Is it listed on the profile??
I tried opening someone else's profile but I see that the e-mail id is not listed in the "Profile for User xyz" section.

The spam was from "giag" only.
I think many ppl in this community got this spam.

It was around 14th or 15th of Feb.
I guess he is banned now.

Can automated machines create such nuisance??
Because on BTG,we are not required to write the words from the "captcha".(like in e-mail id creation)
I guess if David can do that ,it would be very helpful.

We do require a captcha for the registration process, but we think captchas are quite burdensome once you've become an active member here. Overall, I think our ability to capture spam is pretty good (we stop literally hundreds of spammers each week), but it's unfortunate when even one spammer can get through.
