SBC B-School Buzz: MBA Blogosphere Check-In

by Stacy Blackman Consulting, Nov 7, 2013

badgeHello, and welcome to the latest edition of Stacy Blackmans B-School Buzz, our periodic check-in with some of the MBA blogospheres applicant and student contributors. In this edition, Buzz bloggers share news of interview invites and dings, reactions from campus visits, and tips for making the most of your B-school visit.

Skyrocketing stress levels---Now that hammO has successfully submitted six applications in Round 1, the next phase---waiting---begins. Luckily, his near super-human efforts have already been acknowledged; hammO received an invitation to interview from the Ross School of Business. Congratulations and good luck!

Renewed hope is here---After feeling rather dejected by the ding from Harvard last week, Domotron is back with the great news of an interview invite from Wharton! This positive news provides validation of the quality of his essays, and comes just in time for him to better strategize which schools to target for Round 2.

Stern campus visit---This week, Ppandey shares his impressions after spending time at NYU Stern. In one of the visits, he represented his company for prospective consultants and gained valuable insight from the recruiters' perspective. One question requires further thought: Is the MBA experience in any way diminished because Stern lacks a close-knit campus feel?

Pay a proper b-school visit---Now that he's successfully made it to the other side, Johnson'13 graduate Ellipser has some great advice on how to visit your target schools in a way that maximizes the experience and offers you a chance to shine.

Good news from R1---For many Round 1 applicants, October is often a painful waiting period as you plan your R2 lineup not knowing if your initial applications passed muster. Validation came early for Timbob, who received a Golden Ticket, aka an invitation to interview at Harvard Business School. Best of luck to you!
