How to Get into a Top MBA Program
So you want to get your shiny diploma and want to learn how to get into a top MBA program. Well, fortunately for some and unfortunately for others there are only a few things that can be done at this point (unless you are ahead of the game and looking at this in high school or college, and then kudos). Your academic record is set, you have progressed in your career, so what can be done? You still control your GMAT score, maybe some volunteer work and your application.
- You want a GMAT score as high as you can get it - Seems logical, but even when that is true people look for short cuts. When something has such a significant impact on whether or not you get into school, why would you look to cut corners? Get some professional help and ace the GMAT (We know a great place to get it…)
- Volunteer work – You are about to join a community and the ad comm’s want to know that you are going to contribute. Show that you are willing to do so by volunteering. And, better yet try to get on a junior board or take a leadership position. The early you can do this the better so that it does not look like you simply wanted a resume stuffer for your application.
- Finally, focus on your delivery your personal story on your application. This is probably the biggest x-factor you must nail when thinking about how to get into a top MBA Program. You need to be able to show why you made the decisions you made in the past, how they shaped your current postions, and why an MBA is the next step. Better yet, why an MBA from the top program you are applying to is the next step.
The formula is tried and true. As with anything in this process, I recommend getting professional help. Your competition is getting it in droves and it may be the thing you need keep pace and push you over the edge…
