Hi Lisa,

I would like to ask the possibility of the admission for Columbia ED, Haas, Anderson, Ross, and Darden.

I am a bilingual Korean who's lived in the US for about 4 years before and planning to apply this year. (Will distribute 1R & 2R based on the essay progress)

Currently I am working for the biggest global HR consulting firm and so far have experiences little less than 3 years. I'm mainly working in Seoul, Korea but I've got several global project experiences as well. (too bad no "entrepreneurship experiences" at all!!)

I got 750 on GMAT (verbal 40, math 51) and 109 on TOEFL.

My post-MBA career vision is to jump into strategy consulting area (i.e working at Mckinsey or Bain..)

Could you evaluate the profile and tell me what to focus for admission and also for essay work?

Thanks a lot, Lisa!!

Dear wessi,

Congratulations on a strong GMAT! You gave very little information in your post, so I can only make assumptions when evaluating your profile for top programs. If you are an international student (not a US citizen), then gaining admission is a little different because there are fewer seats available. Having US work experience will work to your advantage as well as the strong TOEFL. Regardless of citizenship, it is important for you to effectively communicate your candidacy, your career goals, your rationale for an MBA, and your choice of each program. It is best to focus on examples demonstrating your leadership potential and managerial skills in your essays and interview.

Best of luck,
Lisa
