First, I assume the underlying portion goes from "Just" to "the" right?
I would say C) for parallelism reason and idiomatic Just as…so

Just as an archeologist…so a nautical archeologist

A is clearly wrong since it compares a background in art history to a nautical archeologist
B The use of the word "who" in the choice is wrong
E is wrong since it is round about and confusing
D is also wrong

C sounds the best; it uses the correct idiom just as...so
