First try was with a week to prepare, and I got a 620. Went through all 9 of the manhattan prep books, and most of a GMAT Verbal Practice Book, took 4 full practice exams the week leading up to test day, and probably did about 400 DS/PS exam problems on top.
47/42 for a 720. Boooooooooooooooooooooyah!
It took me 5 weeks to beat the GMAT!

Hi AllisonW,
Since this post is from 3 months ago (and the poster hasn't posted since then), there's a chance that he/she won't be back to respond to your questions.
The scenario that semo710 describes is NOT typical. Most Test Takers will never score above 700; of those that do, most need considerably more than 5 weeks of study time to accomplish that goal. The fact that semo710 scored 620 (an above-average score) with 1 week of studying points to the rarity of the situation. Whatever plan he/she ultimately used would not be practical for most Test Takers nor would it lead to a similar result for most Test Takers.
Have you done any studying so far? How have you scored on your practice CATs?

Excellent score in a very short time preperation. It will be inspiring to the people who want to beat the GMAT. I have been thinking to beat but affraid of the failure. Now, I am inspired that nothing is impossible to me. Best wishes for your success.
