Is this true?

Someone told me that if you scored decent on the AWA portion of your but poorly on the Quant/Verbal sections of the GMAT and if you plan on retaking the GMAT then you can just skip the AWA sections so that you can concentrate more on the Quant/Verbal.

This isn't true. It's a really bad idea to skip your AWA section, admissions folks may see this as a red flag or perhaps an incomplete GMAT score.
