Is kn < 30?
(1) 3 < k < 6 and 5 < n < 8
(2) k + n = 11
The OA is E.
I am confused here. I thought the correct answer should be C. Experts, can you show me why E is the correct answer? Thanks.

Hi Vincen,
To start, this question should really be posted in the DS Forum here: https://www.beatthegmat.com/data-sufficiency-f7.html
We're asked if (K)(N) is less than 30. This is a YES/NO question. This question can be solved by TESTing VALUES.
1) 3 < K < 6 and 5 < N < 8
IF....
K=4 and N=7, then (4)(7) = 28 and the answer to the question is YES.
K=5 and N=6, then (5)(6) = 30 and the answer to the question is NO.
Fact 1 is SUFFICIENT
2) K+N = 11
IF...
K=4 and N=7, then (4)(7) = 28 and the answer to the question is YES.
K=5 and N=6, then (5)(6) = 30 and the answer to the question is NO.
Fact 2 is INSUFFICIENT
Combined, we have two TESTs that fit both Facts and produce different answers (one "YES" and one "NO").
Combined, INSUFFICIENT
Final Answer: E
