Hello! I am Spiros from Greece. I am 22 and have just finished university (Economics in the university of Athens). I have some little work experience, internship, an dtook the Gmat last week. 600, Q:47 and V:27. I want to go to the US for an MS in finance in either Syracuse, Temple, Vanderbilt, GW (DC),Illinois-Urbana or Boston College. What are my chances? I am an international applicant and I will self-fund my studies. Is it possible?, or due to my age ( and my lack in work because my age) I may not be admitted? MY GPA is about 3,2.
Thank you very much!!! javascript:emoticon('Laughing')

Hi Spiros,

Can you provide a bit more information - most importantly, are you looking for an MS or an MBA?

What was your work experience? What are your goals? Any volunteer or extracurricular activities where you have taken a leadership position?

Unfortunately there are no guarantees for anyone in the MBA admissions process, so all candidates may not be admitted. With a little more information about your background and goals I would be happy to provide my advice.

Good luck!

Amy

First of all, thank you for your help. I am looking for an Master of Science in Finance. During my studies I have been a soccer official (referee). Moreover, I had an internship at UNEP, for 4 months and worked on a part-time basis for the Hellenic management association for 2 years. My goals are firstly to work for an insulting firm so as to gain experience in the finance field and then setting my own financial-consulting firm. Also as far as volunteer work is concerned, i 've been a volunteer as an team liaison officer in the Olympics of Athens, 2004, and I am also a member of WW F. I have just finished university and I am only 22 years old. The age is an advantage having done all these or maybe a disadvantage because of the lack of full time work?

Hi Spiros,

To be honest, we focus on MBA admissions and my knowledge of MS programs is a bit limited. I'll do my best to give you some general information.

From what I understand, an MS is a good degree for someone in your position because there is not the same emphasis on leadership and management in the application process as there would be for an MBA. It also does not prevent you from going for an MBA later in your career if you find the need for a more general management education. I believe you can comfortably apply for the programs listed with your current work experience.

Good luck!

Amy
