I need help !

Post Fri Jul 15, 2016 3:10 am
Hello everyone ,

I have been preparing for the GMAT for 6 months. I began from the scratch. I took a practise test and I scored 340.My score was expected since I just learned english and did not practise math for 2 years. after taking E-gmat and magoosh course , my score jumped to 450 (Q45,V7 IR 0) in 3 months. Then i spent another 3 months practicing from OG.I was very happy since i improved significantly some question became very easy and i thought i was going to achieve at least 580.However , I took the official test 3 week ago and i was surprised seeing my score. ; i scored 460 (v19,Q36,IR2 and 3.5 AWA). I realised that i was far away from my goal which at least 600. I was discouraged.( very bad). However , i decided to retake the exam ,but this time i won't do anything unless it is recommended from an expert.I did not follow any study plan during my preparation.

Even though i felt i did well in math , my score was Q36.LAST two question i had almost 10 minutes. in the exam some questions i did them twice.I really don't know what happened. For the verbal section , I really don't know what to say. I feel that this section is very hard and honestly I don't what to do. slow reader , i took too much time to come up with the assumptions , confusing words ,not able to understand the passage and argument clearly.

I did a lot of mistakeS , and i really don't want to repeat them again for example i took just 2 cats before the exam (i really could not handle the exam) i got really tired during the verbal section.
My goal is to achieve 600 as soon as possible and then i will aim for 650
right now ,GMAT is the most important and urgent task to do and i'm willing to spend 5 hrs a day
I'm going to purchase another course but i'm not sure which one . I have tried one hours for free (EMPOWERgmat) and i really loved it.However I'm not sure yet

THANK YOU Very Happy

Hi hichem,

To start, you have made some nice improvements so far (especially since you admit to not following a study plan). With this recent Official Score, and your score goal (600 or 650), you will likely need to spend at least another 2-3 months of consistent, guided study to get up to that level.

1) What is your final goal score?
2) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
3) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Hi Rich ,

1) My goal is to achieve 650
2) the program begins in January , so I'm going to apply in September
3) Queen university (Canada) , Ivey Richard Business School (Canada) and schulich school of business (Canada)

Hi hichem,

With a September application deadline, you'll have to do a lot of work in a relatively short period of time. Given your score goal, you would likely find it highly beneficial to invest in a GMAT Course of some type. Most GMAT Companies offer some type of free materials (practice problems, Trial Accounts, videos, etc.) that you can use to 'test out' a product before you buy it. We have a variety of those resources at our website (www.empowergmat.com) in addition to the free trial that you've already used. I suggest that you take advantage of all of them then choose the one that best matches your personality, timeline and budget.

If you have any additional question, then you can feel free to contact me directly.

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich
