I took the GMAT today here in Texas: total score is 770, scaled scores are 49Q and 47V. Some background: 32yrs old Turkish national living in the US for 10 years, B.Sc/M.Sc/Ph.D in Electrical Engineering. Targeting to enter a top full-time or executive MBA program. This is the second time I took the exam: I scored a 730 back in 2002, but decided not to apply for an MBA back then. I am fairly happy with my score; but at the risk of sounding ungrateful I have to say that I probably could have scored better: I ran out of time before I had a chance to answer the last two quantitative questions.

I have been preparing for the last couple of months and only used the last edition of the GMAT official guide and the two free online tests at mba.com. I think the official guide is all you need for a good GMAT score. Best of luck to everyone!

Well done! Do you think the harder OG 11 questions are representative of the quant questions you saw on the actual GMAT?

As you predict I am a Turkish gmatter and wish to have a score over 700!

Thanks! I think the range of difficulty of the questions in OG11 reflects that of the real GMAT pretty closely. I can't say that the questions in the book were easier or harder than the real test; the mix and distribution is just right. I guess the adaptive nature of the test makes it almost impossible to even guess what kind of questions you will get: It threw me increasingly harder questions in the beginning, but the last 12 or so questions were pretty easy. I happened to spend to much time on some of the harder ones though, hence the two questions at the end that I missed.. <deep>

Looking back, I believe that preparing with harder questions like those in the Kaplan/Manhattan books would have helped me control the time better. I can't complain about my score; but if I had to do it again I would put more emphasis on time control.
