Hudge Timing Problem !

    Hey Guys,

    I have my test coming up in about 2 weeks and these are my Prep-Scores:

    GMATPrep #1: 650 (Q47 - V33)
    MGMAT #1: 670 (Q41 - V40)
    MGMAT #2: 740 (Q47 - V44)
    MGMAT #3: 710 (Q47 - V40)
    MGMAT #4: 670 (Q42 - V39)

    While i'm fairly happy with my overall Scores (esp. Verbal), my time "management" in the quantitive section kills my quantitve scores.

    In every of my last 3 Prep-tests I spent more than 3 minutes on about 8 verbal questions (thereof over 4 minutes on approx. 4 questions). Subsequently, I always have to guess on the last 5 to 7 verbal questions ...

    Can you guys recommend me any strategies to ged rid of this problem?
    Right now, i dont know what I should do - even though I know that I have to improve my timing, I end up spending to much time on certain questions.
    Also, I dont have this timing problem when I work on the questions of the OG - it hardly takes me more than 20 minutes to go through 10 PS or DS problems from the OG ...

    Should I check the time after every question and move to the next question after a certain amount of time (lets say 3 minutes), regardless of my progress on this particular question, or is it better to check the clock only every 5 questions?

    Checking your time after every question will eat up a lot of time. For example, if you're on question #17 in the Verbal section and you have 46 minutes remaining, are you on track? The time spent calculating whether you're on track could be better spent working on questions.
    Also, checking every question assumes that each question requires the same amount of time. The truth of the matter is that, on average, you should spend about 2 minutes per math question. However, some questions require 3 minutes and some require 1 minute.

    I suggest checking the time every 5 questions, and using a milestone chart to avoid making those "am I on track?" calculations.
