Is it possible fr a person to get 700+ from 530 in 2 months time?? I was shattered after my GMAT score of 530 (Q 41, V 21). I got above 600 in both GMAT preps (mba.com). No idea about the drastic difference of -70.Clueless!!! yes i was prepared for +/- 30 on the real one.
What needs to be done? What material to follow?
I completed OG thoroughly fr both quant and verbal. This time i need to focus on quality of my preparation rather than the quantified approach.
Experts!! please suggest..
PRESENT-----16/09/2011---------GMAT Shattered me
FUTURE------16/12/2011---------I shattered GMAT (hahaha!! am looking fr this kind of scenario)
Regards,
Rahul

It will take a lot of practice but it can be done. You just dont loose heart
-Calculate how much time will you allocate to each question? Easy, Moderate and Tough
-At which point you'll give up on a question and move onto the next one?
-For difficult problems, how much time do you want to allocate to double check your answer?
-Apply the 80/20 rules to focus one one or two weakest areas - based on your practice test results, which 20% of the question types contributes to 80% of your incorrect answers? Work hard on the one or two weakest areas.
-Practice, practice and practice the questions from ETS ...think in the line of ETS questions.

Thank You very much Alex!!!
I have work cut out for the next 2 months.
1) RC ----------Planning to read a lot of online content : WSJ, NY Times, Harvard Magazine (Plz Suggest any other stuff)
2) Is the pattern of SC section in GMAT changing??
3) How is LSAT for CR? (To hone ur CR skills)
My biggest problem during my first attempt:
a) Too nervous and felt as if GMAT was the only thing in this world!!
b) Messed up quant (Q41) .Poor Time management. I had about 3 minutes to go when i attended the last problem in quant.
DS was little tricky....thnk i got many pS also wrong..
c) In verbal GMAT trapped me, i thought i was doing well through out the section but in the end when i got V21, then i knew that i was only getting 300/400/500 range questions.
I need to make sure that i do not fall in such traps in my next attempt.
Thanks.
Rahul

Read read and read. First read for understanding then for accuracy.
You know your faults thats pretty good.
The pattern changes next June/July. They add a new section. You are safe till then!!
they definitely are useful. I agree it's time consuming to go through the strategies they use, but if you stay patient enough I am sure it will help. Complex but helpful. Go slow on that.
GMAT is just an exam and you are already a winner.

If you read posts in the "I Just Beat the GMAT" forum, you'll find many stories like this one: https://www.beatthegmat.com/from-470-to- ... 90548.html
But . . . . . . it will take a lot of dedication and hard work.
Cheers and best of luck,
Brent
