Topic: How to Download Files
PostWed Jul 19, 2006 9:13 pm

Hello Beat The GMAT Community:

One of the most frequently asked questions on this board is: how do I download files? Here is what you can do to retrieve files successfully from this website:

First, you must be logged into this forum with your member account. You will not be able to see the links to download files unless you are logged in.

Next, go to a discussion post that contains a file that you wish to download. You should see a link called "Download" in the post--this link is below a small paperclip icon, located in a table with information about the file.

When you click on the "Download" link, be sure to save the file to your computer. Do not try to open the file directly--you may have problems, depending on your browser. If this doesn't work, try logging out and logging back in.

If the above steps do not work, try right-clicking on the "Download" link and select "Save As", or "Save Target As" (the terms may be different depending on your browser). Then be sure to save the file to your computer.

If you are still unable to download the file from this website, you are likely experiencing problems with your browser settings or firewall; you may need to reduce the security settings. Unfortunately, I cannot provide specific instructions for troubleshooting your browser or firewall.

Best of luck!

Some of you have mentioned that you've had difficulty finding the "Download" link for the posts that contain files. Please refer the following image--the download link is circled in red.

Please note--you need to be logged in as a member to see the image attached to this post.

Thanks!

I have done some experiments to work out a bug. If you are a first-time user, that is you just registered yourself on the site and directly go to to discussion forums and tried to download some files; I'm afraid most of the time it wont work.

YOU HAVE TO LOG OUT- check the confirmation mail that we sent- and again following the link- YOU HAVE TO RE-LOG IN.
Note that this works for first time user.

Just to confirm: did you follow all the steps in this thread? If so, it might be a browser or firewall issue, and you may need to try on another computer...
