Hello,
I believe, when we speak of diversity,people think of having experiences of variety of cultures and countries.

Although this is true but at the same time I believe when B-Schools talk of diversity,they also mean to have a diverse class,both in professional as well as on personal front.

I am also an applicant and this is what I believe I know about it.

Still I would like to request the experts like Eric to shed some light into this.

ofcourse it is the diversity of the experiences people bring to class and not the culture you're from or how many countries you've been. Everybody applying for harvard sure has been to quite some places on the globe.
That's immaterial.

how do you know that I am from Spain and studying Civil Engineering? Shocked I think i didn´t write that information...

My profile is: Spanish male, studying Civil Engineering (as you already knew). I don´t know my GPA because in Spain scores are from 0 to 10, but my average is 7.7 (is quite high for a Civil Engineer student in Spain) and my GMAT is 640 (hoping to improve it in June).

How about your background?

Actually in the introduction yourself thread you have given a little introduction about yourself,so since I browse BTG a lot,it was quiet obvious to remember these little things.

to my best knowledge,Cultural as well as professional diversity,both are important.

I belong to India,which in itself is quiet a culturally diverse place and by God's Grace I have been bought up in a very diverse background.
Professionally I belong to a very common background of Indian,Engineering Male!!

But I have done some little things which may help me to differentiate myself from others.

Harvard does maintain a 10% Indian representation on campus. But it's very subjective. It is of course important to maintain a cultural diversity on campus and this is in fact Harvard's USP but it is not something you can bank on to get in. I cannot throw you out if you're good but I've had my 30 Americans already. Again, its all very subjective!

BTW, what school are you from in India?

In India,it's quiet reputed University. I don't really want to comment on what place you belong to.

I would rather have to say something, the process of admission to my knowledge depends on several parameters, one cannot really say that If he is having a good GMAT score and if he is from a very reputed University,he is sure to be selected.

I personally know two of my seniors from my University one had a 760 GMAT score and plenty of leadership roles and community services.
The other guy was plain and simple(we now believe he was very different from the regular guys out here!!)
The other guy was selected instead of the 760 guy

Moreover there was an instance where Stanford University rejected applications from 800 GMAT scorers, hope you have heard of this one!!

If you look deep into the history,there are many cases like this.

So looking from an applicants' point of view,we really cannot predict what exactly do the Adcom people look for.


As far as HBS is concerned,this program 2+2 specifically targets my future goals and that is the reason why I am very excited for it.Although,if you think that I am dependent on my luck,then you must be mistaken,i do have some little things which I think may differentiate me from the rest of the crowd.

does anybody know the minimum TOEFL score required for HBS? Is it difficult to obtain that score? Obviously i am not a native English speaker

Hi folks,

I'm also applying to the 2+2 program.

It's a shame that there aren't more 2+2 applicants discussing the procedures etc in forums.

As a brief intro:

20, British male (Indian origin... not sure which way they will count me Very Happy)
Class 2:1 in bioengineering from the 6th best university in Europe- roughly equates to a 3.5GPA in American terms.
Not taken the GMAT yet (will be taking it only once in June).

I am an Asian from among the top35 technical universities on globe.
Dunno my equivalent GPA.

I agree with Apprentice.

There are apparently fewer people discussing the application process, but overall I think that there will be a higher number of applicants.

I think less people are discussing the program for two reasons:

1. Last year was the first year of the 2+2, so people had to scout around and share information and insights regarding the application process. This year, applicants can just review the insights and discussions from last year's applicants.

2. I think there is a greater sense of competition this year, as the scale of the 2+2 intake has become clear. Nobody was expecting 106 offers to go out. People have realised that this equates to 1/9th the entire MBA intake for a class, suggesting that future MBA slots will be reduced by a proportional amount.

plus if you take a look at last year's thread..the first post comes only in mid july! we're in march!!
EXPECT A MULTI FOLD INCREASE IN APPLICANTS, ESPECIALLY FROM ASIA.
