Topic: Have 6 weeks to prep for the GMAT. Where should I start?

Greetings as I am new to the BTG community. Smile

I have 6 weeks before my actual GMAT and here are the prep materials that I have...

8 MGMAT books
Princeton Review Book
OG 11th edition

My target score is 600-650 for University of Houston or Rice University.

Is this score attainable in 6 weeks? Where should I start?

I just finished the PR book and I'm starting the OG book tomorrow. Should I take the GMAT prep CAT to see where I stand?

Any help would be appreciated.

You're in luck, I saw this before I signed off for the night Smile

I would save the GMAT prep CATs until you are 3 weeks out. they should be the last two CATs you take. I would recommend going through the MGMAT guides. As you go through the guides, make sure you are constantly reviewing the past chapters and books. You do not want to learn something and then forget it a few days later. In order to keep things fresh, you should review material you learn every 2 to 3 days. If you do this, you should get above a 600. I will be at Rice March 26-28. I'll let you know my impressions of the campus. Good luck.

@Osirus: Thanks for the recommendation and I will follow your study method till I take the test. I notice that I tend to forget formulas after I finish a quantitative section so this will surely help. I was thinking about going over the MGMAT books and taking a CAT every week. What do you think about that strategy? Rice University is a beautiful campus. I attended one of their information sessions and was in shock at how nice their campus was. I guess they can justify their nice campus with a hefty 80k+ tuition. Good luck on your retake!!


@Money: I still have 8 MGMAT books to go over. Do you think I still have time to go over the Powerscore CR Bible? My target score is only 600-650 as I am not targeting top B-schools.

you bring up a good point... 6 weeks... the CR Bible is not necessary. The MGMAT guide will suffice. Just allow yourself to get into a study rut... and if you have any questions post them here...well not RIGHT HERE per se.. but somewhere in the forum Wink
