I took the GRE twice 8 years ago and scored exactly the same points in both the attempts (Lost 120 points in Quants and gained them in Verbal!). Problem is, I know I did not prepare for my second attempt but still my verbal improved so much...I was 19 and I hated standardized tests back then...thought they were designed to fool people..
Since then, I have gained so much real world experience, risen successfully in my career and am arguably much wiser and I know I can perform very well in GMAT....BUT every time I look at the GMAT interface (like the GMATPrep practice test), it brings back very unpleasant memories/anger and anxiety...
My GMAT is scheduled 5 month away...anybody out there in such a unique position? Please HELP! |

It seems like you have a psychological hurdle to overcome. If I were you I would just block 3.5 hours on a Saturday and force yourself to go through a GMATPrep test--just to gauge where you currently stand.
There's no risk in taking a GMATPrep test, you just have to get yourself to complete one! Set aside the time and go for it! _________________ Eric

My story is very much similar to yours, but I hold no grudges agains these tests.
I took GRE on Oct 3 2007 with about only 28 days of prep got 1290.
I thought it was less and gave it again on Nov 6 2007 with a 10 days prep.
This time I got 1150
I go shattered that day...but after a couple of days, I was alright!
My GMAT is on May 19th...Am looking forward to a great score.
GRE has made me much more tougher....I dont want a second attempt this time and this thought keeps me motivated. Hope this alleviates your pain!
All The best (I expect the same for me from you guys as well!) |
