GPA compensators . .or not ??????? Post Fri Dec 16, 2011 9:26 am
Education: B.Tech. in Computer Science (GPA 6.8/10)
Jaypee University Of Engineering & Technology
Took Good Quality 7 ONLINE courses at UCB,UCLA Extension and got A in all of them.
WE: 58 months by matriculation in Software Engineering(IT Project Management)

Aiming:FUQUA ,JOHNSON ,TUCK ,DARDEN ,INSEAD ,HAAS ,ANDERSON ,KELLOGG ,COLUMBIA.

I would like to know if I need to submit the courses grades which I took at UCB/UCLA EXT , as I am not able as certain that I have a low GPA or not as I have modest GPA-6.8 which aint a low GPA but not even high as these above grad schools require , and also I have X-78% XII-68% which is also not that good enough , so I thought before submitting the grades I should know whether this would strengthen mine application or not .

At the time of taking up of these courses I thought that mastering over them would definitely boost me up and would help me to differentiate from other application pool .... Also I have aced CABM(Certified Associate Business Managers) and got 92% in the same.... is this worth stating too..... to show adcoms that I too have academic motivation and ability to surge ahead in a rigorous academic setting.... kindly suggest what should I do????

I guess I'm not sure what your dilemma is. You should absolutely mitigate a low GPA or GMAT with an optional essay that talks to the courses you have taken since your undergraduate program. You should highlight the As and the CABM course, so they can get a full perspective on your academic body of work.

Did I miss what you were looking for?

I hope that helps.

Exactly I wanted to know that If we see towards the other applicants who have GPA-4/4 and me with the various good quality online courses with Grade As and UG GPA-6.8/10 and CABM-92% then Can I expect that I would be treated equal competitive enough to the other guys..with the earlier above mentioned guys having stellar acads....that is if now with the additional courses would completely show case them mine ACADEMIC CAPABILITY and ACADEMIC PERSEVERANCE......and that any difficulty will not surface related to academics....

Awaiting reply...Thank You

You won't be treated equally to those with stellar academics. If you think about it, they had a body of work of 4+ years where they demonstrated academic excellence. However, with supplemental courses combined with your grades, it will certainly help your case. You can't change the past, but it sounds like you are doing what you can to mitigate the academic issue. In addition, a strong GMAT will help you immensely.

I hope that helps.
