    ESSAY QUESTION:
"The purpose of government is not to ensure the financial well-being of its citizens, but rather to maintain order."

From your perspective, how accurate is the above statement? Support your position with reasons and/or examples from your own experience, observations, or reading.

    YOUR RESPONSE:

The above statement discusses the role of government. It states that government is to maintain the order rather than to ensure financial well being of its citizen. I support what the statement states. While financial well being of its citizen will bring accolades to Government, order need to be taken care of , if the society has to achieve the equilibrium.

Any country selects its government to rule itself. The government ideally is a reflection of what its people desire their country to be. Hence, it becomes imperative at government's part to pass laws and make policies so that equality in society, fairness and harmony is maintained in the country. But these steps doesn't necessarily guarantee the financial well being of its citizen. Good policies and laws are more likely to result in uplift of social or financial well being of its citizen. Financial growth doesn't solely depend on government's moves. There are other factors such as climate, business opportunities, county's demography. that affect the financial well being of citizen. Here then government has to play a arbitrator's role to balance the economy.

The government brings order to maintain the equilibrium in society. Maintaining order not only brings peace in its society, but also ensure that each citizen has rights to live comfortably in the country. The government has to check any unfair behavior and may have to take some harsh decisions that may be against citizen's well being. For example, in mid 2010, French government decided to increase the retirement age of its citizens from 60 years to 65 years. This action led to much criticism with in the regime. Yet the government felt the move justified unless nation's economy had to put at stake.

Making efforts to maintain order, hence doesn't necessarily mean financial well being of its citizen. It is hence, the socioeconomic rather than economic outlook which is more important to a society. After all the government is a representative of people of country and not a certain section of it.

I support what the statement states. While financial well being of its citizen will bring accolades to Government, order need to be taken care of , if the society has to achieve the equilibrium.(what is the purpose of adding this line?)

(I would suggest that you add some structure, use firstly secondly in paragraphs) .The paragraph would look better if you add relevant examples to support this.It looking more of a saga.

(Add para to introduce counter point)
Making efforts to maintain order, hence doesn't necessarily mean financial well being of its citizen. (How are these 2 topics related?Irrelevant statementIt is hence, the socioeconomic rather than economic outlook which is more important to a society.
