GMAT Unofficial Score Report Question Post Sun Apr 29, 2012 6:04 pm
Hi,
I received a 49Q 31M and got a 650 (according to the printout).

I would think this is at least a 670?
Are the scores final from what you get on the printout?

Anther poster had on this site had:
640 --- (Q49, V28)

i would count on receiving the same score that is on your unofficial printout.

i scored Q47/V41 (710) about a month ago. a few months prior to that Q47/V41 was a 720... plus, i have seen people (more recently) who scored Q47/V39&Q47/V42 and scored 710/730 respectively. sometimes the incremental increase in one section does very little to the overall score.

good job on your test.

b2beat, you will most likely get that same score on your official report as well; I have never heard of a difference between official and unofficial scores.

The reason the same subscores do not necessarily lead to the same total score is that the total score is not calculated out of those two subscores, it is based on your overall performance regarding all 78 questions. That means that a "good" 47Q and a "good" 41V can actually lead to a higher score than a "bad" 47Q and a "bad" 41V.

Hope this answers your question.

There's a pretty broad range for the overall score. For instance, I got a 700 with a 49Q and 35V. I noticed that people with a 49Q and 36V got a 710. For the hell of it, I looked up 49Q and 38V splits (because 38 was my best verbal score) and I found that too was a 710, and 720 scores started at 49Q and 39V. In short - your score looks about right given the same Q score and a difference in 3 in the V score.
