Hi,

I would like to talk to you about your help. I took GMAT a few years back and got a 570. Then late last year started studying and studied for months only to get a 540 a few days ago. I could really use some help.

Please provide your email or cell. I am based in Canada.

How much time did you spend studying for this exam? The one you just took?

About a month and a half; I finished my finals in May and I was taking some pretty tough Math and Econ classes so I had almost no time to focus on the GMAT before that.

Congrats on a great score! You mentioned that you studied for the GRE. Would you mind sharing your GRE score and what prep material you used to study for it? I attempted the GMAT and got a very low score, then took it again and had a horrible experience with a test center and now have given up on the GMAT and attempting the GRE.

Great work, mcdesty!
Love the debrief - my favorite parts are:

Reading the Question!
I had the very bad habit of solving problems without reading the full question.I thought I already knew what the question was about. You are especially prone to this if you have solved so many similar problems.
I scheduled 30 minutes a day to read 20 questions without attempting to solve them. I devoted that time to appreciate how different each question is and how important it is TO READ FULL QUESTION.

Solve, solve and Resolve:
I did the 400, or so, Math problems in the question bank of the GMAT prep software more than once; All the questions I saw on the test were mostly variations of these problems.

Learn to quit:
You are better off getting a hard question wrong than an easy question wrong because you were rushing. Every time I crossed the 3 minute mark, at most four on a question, I'd quit- Most of the times. (:
All test-takers should heed this advice!

Cheers,
Brent
