I know exactly what you are talking about. I keep looking at it so frequently you would be amazed .....

Keep your mind strong, just focus on the task at hand, and let the words in that document give you the strength to go thru whatever you are trying to do ...

I am sure you will persevere - the fact that you took the trouble to read the document, tells me you will!

Take care,

Hi guru-G,
Read your post yesterday in detail and tried to write a response two times, and both times, couldnt! Once the computer crashed, the second time the screen automatically refreshed. Either ways, read your post, and really felt inspired by your perserverance and spirit. There are a few things you probably need to try/work on before you schedule the next test to make sure you can score 700+, and are not spending money on the exam for nothing.

I will spend time this week/weekend, writing a detailed post, asking detailed questions to you. HOpefully that will help in figuring out how we can make you achieve your goal.

For now - I do believe you will do fine. God has given you the burn, the ache, the pain that makes you want to do things in life which seem impossible - its a sweet pain. It hurts like hell, but makes you achieve wonders, you never thought possible ...

Keep the spirit, will send you a detailed post soon!

First of all, congraluations for your score on the GMAT. You did a great job!

I think you are also doing a great job at inspiring alot of people on the site to do a good job in studying and preparing for their gmat.

I do intend on taking the gmat also, but I worry that even if I would study hard and get a good score,t my undergrad gpa was not that high. 2.95 Crying or Very sad

I know I've heard people say it also depends on your work experience, the number of years and other factors, but I have a few blemishes on my transcript and I just want to know what are my chances at a good b-school?

Does anyone have any advice on that?

Hi AmazingGrace,
I do not believe the undergraduate score matters that much (thats why they make you write the GMAT, look at your experinece etc). But to be absolutely sure, you may want to ask some of the experts in this forum (MBA admission consultant part of the forum, do post your question their as well). You may also want to go for the information session to the college you are intested in and find out the details there as well.

The above was the logical part, now comes the emotional ....

I would first ask myself, how bad do I want to do an MBA, adn what it really means to me? I love the analogy of a ship when starts its journey across the sea. If the ship were to see the vastness of the ocean, it would never leave the shore. But it does ... adn not only does it leave the shore, it crosses the ocean and reaches its destination. How does it do it? It does it "ONE wave a time....". Take the MBA one wave at a time - get your GMAT done first then your apps then the interview (in the process probably you will be able to figure out how to wow the guys wiht your qualitites and talents and have them get off the GPA issue??)

Lets say someone tells you that with our gpa this is going to be hard (no one can say impossible - they really dont know), what do you do. You ask yourself the same question - how badly do you want it, and how far are you willing to go?

I flunked in my third year first semester bachelors (and before that I had barely good gpa). After flunking - I finally came to my senses, and did a good job in the next semester. After that I've been doing well in life and carreer as a whole. It may hurt me when I go for My MBA - but you know I want it soooooooooooooooooooooo bad. I would rather go the whole way and know that I didnt make it, then keep thinking what if I could ....?? But thats just me!!

----------------

I really hope that the GPA doesnt have a major impact for both you and me - If I find out any mor einformaiton on this will let you know as well.

Take care,
-ngufo

Wow, congratulations for your amazing score!!! I'm so happy to have read your story because I just feel so overwhelmed by the preparation. I'm studying and doing the practice sets but I just did a horrible kaplan test. I felt so disappointed and stupid.

Your story and your study strategy gave me new hope and energy! I will beat this stupid exam!!!Smile

I have a question: when you did the diagnostic test, and the other tests (you mentioned that every sunday you'd do a practice test), where did you get them? from the books you mentioned or from a site? Were they full tests or partial ones?

Thank you again for your thoughts and best of luck with Harvard!!!

Genevieve.

Hi Gtork,
Sorry for the late reply. the tests I got were the following

1. Princton tests were crucial to me - I think it has around 4-5 tests
2. I did all the Kaplan tests - 4
3. I did the GMAT Prep 1 : one test as a diagnostic, I saved the other one for doing before the final exam (I have links to this in my blog)
4. The Power prep - 2 exams (I have links to this in my blog)
5. Finally MGMAT - 1 test - there were 4 but I didndt do them. I just focused on the OG 10th edition adn the OG maths, verbal.

Note I redid the Princeton tests twice to see how I was doing after a substantial period of time, when I thought Iwould not remember the answers.

I have also read in the forum that if you reinstall and GMAT test/power prep, the answers that are given in each of the test that come up are differnet. I didnt know that othrewise woul dhave tried that as well. You may want to check that out though, because I do believe that doing these tests before the final exam holds most value ...

Hope the above helps!

Take care,
-ngufo
