The Forbidden City in Beijing, from which the emperors ruled by heavenly mandate, was a site which a commoner or foreigner could not enter without any permission, on pain of death.
(A) which a commoner or foreigner could not enter without any permission,
(B) which a commoner or foreigner could enter without any permission only
(C) which no commoner or foreigner could enter without permission,
(D) which, without permission, neither commoner or foreigner could only enter,
(E) which, to enter without permission, neither commoner or foreigner could do,
Why not A/B? |

IMO B is wrong because it is missing "not"
Can someone please tell what is wrong with A ? |

IMO C
A uses redundant words to describe what is precisely described by choice C. Ex: Without permission is better than saying "without any permission".. both mean the same thing..
a commoner or foreigner could not enter.. better way is no commoner or foreigner could enter.. _________________ One love, one blood, one life. You got to do what you should.

Hmm.. in C, isn't the idiom supposed to be "no.. nor?" _________________ Which would be better... an MBA at a top school (Harvard/Stanford/Wharton) or a masters in computer science (MIT/Stanford/Berkeley)?
Still studying for the GMAT... my current GMAT score isn't official -.- it's my latest practice test score from OG/mba.com. |

IMO the idiom is "not X....nor Y"...
it is not "no X nor Y" |
