The total cost is $480, so the cost per person is $480/6 people = $80 per person
The each put down $150/6 = $25 down payment, so they owe:
$80 - $25 = $55 each... choose (C).
We could also have done this in a slightly different order:
$480 - $150 = $330 total remaining after the down payment.
$330 total / 6 people = $55 per person remaining.

Since each of the 6 people has to contribute equally to the total charter cost of $480, each needs to contribute $480/6 = $80.Rakan wrote:A certain fishing boat is chartered by 6 people who are to contribute equally to the total charter cost of $480. Since each of the 6 people contributes equally to a $150 down payment, each contributes $150/6 = $25 to the down payment.
Thus, each person still owes $80 - $25 = $55.
