What is the value of |x|?

(1) |x2 + 16| - 5 = 27

(2) x2 = 8x - 16

The Ans should be D

Statement 1) Gives two values of X^2, one is 16 and the other is -48. Since X^2 cannot be negative, the only solution is lXl = 4

Statement 2) Straightforward lXl = 4

Pls confirm if my thinking is correct. Thanks

excellent .. that is the answer .. i posted the question because of the trap in the first choice, which many people tend to ignore
