Update, 5/16/08: As of two days ago, it appears that the ScoreTop GMAT community has finally been shut down.

Beat The GMAT welcomes all former ScoreTop members to our lively GMAT and MBA community!

This community features:
  • Lots of active and helpful members
  • Contributing GMAT experts from Kaplan, Manhattan GMAT, Veritas and Stacy Blackman Consulting
  • Discounts on GMAT courses and materials
  • $25K in GMAT course scholarships for our members to date
Again former ScoreTop visitors, welcome to Beat The GMAT! Click here to register now.

Folks:

You risk ruining your chances to go to business school by discussing ScoreTop questions, or by even using their website.

I just heard from a very reliable source that it's NOT in your best interest to discuss ScoreTop questions on this forum, or even to visit the ScoreTop website. ScoreTop is currently being sued by GMAC for publishing live GMAT questions as well as other illegally copyrighted material.

Here's what my source has to say:

"Warn your users not even to go on ScoreTop anymore. GMAC is also threatening to (a) find out who posted the live questions, ban them from taking the GMAT, AND reporting the names to b-schools, and (b) potentially finding out who looked at or discussed items labeled "live" (that is, people who knowingly looked at live questions) and doing the same to those users."

Be careful, and thanks for your help!

By the way--I apologize for spamming you with this message. I just posted this same content in all the subforums.

Just wanted to make sure you're reminded everywhere. Smile

Consequences of sharing actual test questions..

At the cost of repetition - Sharing actual GMAT exam questions on this forum is prohibited.

Now that GMAC has realised that people are infact "cheating" do you think they will radicaly change their questions on the actual GMAT in the coming days? Just concerned bacause I am taking my test in four days. Good luck everyone.

I dont think so, it wont affect type of questions they ask in GMAT; nor GMAC policies or style of conducting the test would change!

PS: Sorry for replying late, I think you've already done with GMAT bynow :p

Eric,
I received this "creepy" e-mail this morning offering some circuitous way to get back on www.scoretop.com. I am highly suspicious of such activity and hence decided to warn other users who may have gotten a similiar note in their Inbox. I've already made a couple of posts on BTG forums but wanted you to be aware of what I received via e-mail.

Dear member,

This is an email from scoretop. I'm so sorry for this discommodiousness. If you want to access scoretop again, try following steps:

Please open the following file on your computer using Notepad:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
then add the following line to the file:
218.201.122.107mihir.urs@gmail.com www.scoretop.com
save the file, and then you should be able to access ScoreTop again.

Best Regards,
The ScoreTop Team
GMATer

Please advise the BTG folks to remain watchful.

I wouldn't mess with those instructions--they sound very suspicious! ScoreTop appears to be down permanently, so I wouldn't bother trying to resurrect access.

Update: 1000 SC will no longer be available for download from this website. Because these materials originated from ScoreTop, there is a strong likelihood that these questions are being drawn from illegal sources. Thus, they have no place in this community.

Thank you.

Does it mean that we are not suppose to discuss the problems of 1000 series (ie. SC. CR) etc. on this forum or do we have freedom to discuss the problems on this forum irrespective of the source material?

Please clarify...

Thanks

If you read carefully beatthegmat's post that you've quoted, you will not have any further query.

We should make sure that we follow the guidelines and the rules set by beatthegmat, thats it. Wink

I looked at the 1000 RC and CR docs. It's not clear to me that these were created by ScoreTop--do you know whether that is the case?
