Hi,

I recently scored a low 600 (Q48 V27) in the GMAT. Needless to mention I have feel absolutely disgusted with my verbal performance. I am in a dilemma since the admission deadlines are knocking at the door (for most schools of my interest) and I won't be able to sit for another exam before the deadlines.

My background : I am a non-native speaker having lived in an English speaking country for a decade. I have solid work experience and my verbal and communication skills are otherwise excellent. I attained my undergraduate degree from the same English speaking country that I now reside in, however, I do have a dismissal GPA (primarily due to my inefficiencies as a fresh undergraduate student). I had hoped to score around 700 to mask my GPA but ofcourse , fate had something different set for me.

I am now pondering over the best course of action available to overcome this situation. I have read about writing brilliant essays to counter the low verbal score however I was also going to use the essays to counter my low GPA too. So I sense that I may come across as an academically challenged student with all these issues being raised.

I really don't want to give up on my preferred schools so was wondering if someone could suggest me the best way out of this mess. Would taking an IELTS/TOEFL (which I am not otherwise required to)strengthen my claim? I understand that GMAT verbal assesses comprehension better than an IELTS/TOEFL content, however, is it not sufficient to display my previous experience as a university graduate and an experienced professional that I have the ability to succeeded as a student irrespective of my low verbal?.
