Consultant load and company setup? Post Sat Jun 30, 2012 12:03 pm
I noticed you only list 4 consultants on your site, and I am wondering why most other firms I see have 10+ consultants? Does your firm take on fewer clients? Do your consultants have many more clients per consultant? Does the consultant do all of the work, or do they have support staff? Please elaborate on this if you are able.

Thank You.

MRharris14,

Thanks for your questions! These are all excellent aspects to consider as you target an MBA admissions consultant. My comments are below:

I noticed you only list 4 consultants on your site, and I am wondering why most other firms I see have 10+ consultants?
>>We have a total of 6 consultants - all bios are viewable here (http://clearadmit.com/mgmt). In addition to the 4 profiles you are likely referring to, there are the bios of the two co-founders of the company - myself and Eliot Ingram. Both Eliot and I take on clients as well (since we feel strongly about helping MBA applicants and derive a great deal of pleasure from working with candidates each year).

Does your firm take on fewer clients?
>>Yes, we take on a very limited number of clients each year. While some of our competitors have a loose network of dozens of independent contractors serving hundreds and hundreds of clients, Clear Admit has purposefully remained smaller scale when it comes to our one-on-one consulting services. Our team of full-time admissions consultants work year-round for Clear Admit and do not simply moonlight as admissions consultants. Our hiring criteria also make it such that very few individuals in the world are actually qualified to work for us.

Do your consultants have many more clients per consultant?
>>No. Again, while the Clear Admit brand is known across the globe (due to our reputation as MBA admissions experts, our admissions portal and popular publications) our one-on-one consulting business is actually much smaller than most people think. Each of our counselors serves a small number of applicants - and we have over 10 years of experience when it comes to finding the optimal client-load. Also, keep in mind that our group of consultants have all been with our organization for many years and are veterans (the 'newest' member of our consulting team has been with us since 2008). Quality and caliber of service is paramount to us; this means that we close our doors to new clients when we hit our capacity (which seems to happen earlier and earlier each year).

Does the consultant do all of the work, or do they have support staff?
>>The consultant does the work with the client and is the sole point of contact - making for a very personal and tailored experience. This is why we insist that prospective clients speak with their future counselor before signing up - to get a true feel for the working relationship/fit. Of course, this is not to say that our team operates in a vacuum; we all continually rely on each other to discuss applicants and their unique profiles. I suppose you could say that the team of consultants serves as a great support staff for any individual counselor on our team - since we try to tap into the collective admissions expertise that our full team brings to the table as much as possible.

Thanks again for your questions. Feel free to reach out to us by sending along your resume to info@clearadmit.com so you may speak with one of our team members.

Best of luck with your MBA applications!

-Graham
