Hi,
Thanx for the post. This is my 2nd attempt at studying for the GMAT; this time I am bent on finishing. Any pointers will be appreciated, otherwise I am here to learn all I can. 8)

This is great!

Thanks so much. Critical reasoning is definitely a difficult section for me so this will help a lot :0)

Quote:
• The subject follows the verb- Most sentences in English language are arranged so that the main subject comes before the verb. The GMAT will try to mess you up by putting the verb before the subject. Example: There are (verb) many reasons (subject) for the tax increase. This is considered an expletive construction and they only begin with: (There is),( It is),( Here is) .pg 64 This is an indicator- when you see sentences beginning with those words you know the verb is coming before the subject and that is wrong grammar.
I am somewhat confused about this point in the SC sheet. Is "There are may reasons for the tax increase" not correct. I really dont understand why. Can somewhat guide please.

Thanks,

I think this is incorrect, but I'm not sure if you wrote that as a general rule, or as a specific rule to that tense.:

Quote:
Can not have the use of HAD twice in a sentence.
You can have it in certain circumstances according to: http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/learningenglish/grammar/learnit/learnitv343.shtml

I've also seen either a Kaplan or MGMAT test question stating that it's OK to use sometimes.
