Topic: cat #4 - did i break something?
PostThu Jul 17, 2008 1:54 pm

Hey -

I took cat #4 the other night and noticed something weird and was hoping to get an explanation on what might have happened and/or if this means my score is not accurate.

Total score: 750(Q51/V41)

On the quant side: After 26 or so questions of varying difficulty, the last 10 questions were all 600-700 level, with the exception of one which was 500-600 level. I thought this was weird because i answered all 10 questions correctly. Shouldn't the cat have given me tougher questions when i was answering them correctly?

Any thoughts?

Also, I noticed a mistake in one of the questions. If you guys would like to fix it/pull it, I'd be happy to let you know which it was.

Thanks,
David

Hi David,

I would venture to guess that the reason why your score is a bit higher is because you correctly answered all of the 750+ and 700+ level quant questions in the CAT pool. This is no easy feat, as we have a significant amount of questions to cover high scorers. Hence, your results mean that you are thoroughly prepared to perform well on the quant section of the GMAT. (And from the looks of it, your verbal score is great, too!)

I hope this helps. As for the mistake in our CAT pool, just e-mail studentservices@manhattangmat.com with the question and we will look into the matter. Good luck studying!

Thanks Michael. I sent student services the question.

Does this mean that cat 5 and 6 won't have any more tough questions available?

Thanks,
-David

Hi egbys,

You will still receive 700 - 800 level questions on the verbal side, but it is likely that you will receive easier questions on the quant side. Do not fret, though, as maxing out one side of the CAT pool indicates that you are extremely prepared for that portion of the test.

Good luck studying!
