According to car mechanics, sharp turns and skids increase the pressure on car tires to twice the normal value increasing the degradation process considerably.

A. increase the pressure on car tires to twice the normal value increasing

B. increase the pressure on car tires to two times more than the normal value, thereby increasing

C. increase the pressure on car tires by twice the normal value, thereby increasing

D. increase the pressure on car tires to twice the normal value, which increases

E. increase the pressure on car tires to twice the normal value, thereby increasing

Confused between Increase By and Increase To
slightly inclined towards Increased By
Hence C

Please post the OA along with a question.

I received a PM requesting that I comment.

A: the normal value increasing the degradation process
D: the normal value, which increases the degradation process
These options imply that the VALUE increases the degradation process.
This meaning is nonsensical.
Eliminate A and D.

B: two times more than the normal value
Conveyed meaning:
If the normal value is x, then two times more = x + 2x = 3x.
The result:
A TRIPLING of the normal value.
Since the intended meaning of the original sentence is that the pressure increases to TWICE the normal value, eliminate B.

C: sharp turns and skids increase the pressure...by twice the normal value
Here, the red portion implies the following:
Under normal circumstances, the pressure increases by x percent, but sharp turns and skids increase the pressure by 2x percent.
Not the intended meaning:
Under normal circumstances, the pressure does not increase.
Eliminate C.

The correct answer is E.
