Advice on target schools - 740 GMAT Post Wed Mar 28, 2012 6:33 pm
Hello,

I am pursuing a full-time MBA to help facilitate a career change from corporate finance to investment management. Based on the details attached below, I am looking for advice on whether my list of targets schools seems appropriate and realistic. Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

Target Schools:
Wharton
Booth
MIT
Columbia
Kellogg

GMAT: 740 (Q48 V44)
Undergrad GPA: 3.9 from a top 50 program (large state school)
Work Experience: Associate in corporate finance department (treasury) - completed three year analyst program and was promoted to Associate - approaching 5 years of total work experience
Extracurriculars: Actively volunteering for 2 years
Leadership: Managing interns and analysts at work, volunteer mentoring
Other: CFA charterholder

I intentionally left Harvard and Stanford off my list as I view them to be major stretches for me. However, I really don't want to drop any lower than the five I listed. Please let me know if:
a. My list is appropriate for an investment management track
b. I have a realistic chance of acceptance to these programs

Thanks in advance.

You never did say which nationality you were, but I'll assume American.
Let's make it easy: Yes. Smile

The list is a good one for you, now just make your best application. and with a 740 and 3.9 you could apply to Harvard too. (it's good if you have other things too, like superb extra curriculars and a good family... but still)
